Guantanamera/Lisa Lynam
This movie was a very interesting seting in Cuba history. We again see avery intellectual women a economics professor married to weak common man. The fact that she gave up her career to move back home to Guantanamera and her husband did alot of traveling to Havena was very interesting. He was trying to make a name for himself in the funeral world. Gina's aunt Georgina came to visit and be honored by her community for the work she had done, finds her lost love of 50 years and they get together and reminisced about there love. When Georgina dies is a very sad part of the movie, and Candido doesn't feel like he can go on without here. Adolfo tells Gina he will escort Georgina body back to Havena in funeral prcessiona nd Gina and Candidio go with him. Many things happen to keep them from being on track andAdolfo thinks someone is sabotague him. The turning part of the movie for Gina is when she meets up with lost student who she fell inlove with years ago but didn't act on. He had written letter of love to her and never saw her again. Also a part where Gina finally felt she could break away fromAdolfo is when he called Aunt Georgina a slut to funeral guide in one of the cities. Once the casket arrived and Candido saw the body and dies because it is not Georgina. The final resting place of the funeral Adolfo is giving speech of bothof them and storm starts he is left there and Gina gives into her love to Mariano and they ride off on the bike........

It was interesting that Gina gave up her career to be with Adolfo. She also defended him earlier in the movie stating that he could have been much more than a funeral director. But I do believe that she married for convenince much more than love.
ReplyDeleteThe idea that an intelligent woman such as Gina would be attracted with the likes of Mariano was appalling. I think that Mariano was sexy, but he was such a womanizer and she Gina was aware of this.
This kind of man needs to be left to his own devices....let him womanize the heck out of the women...the ones that are not smart enough. I do not believe that Gina was one of those stupid women.
