Women on the verge of nervous breakdown

LISA LYNAM
The interaction between the women and men was in my opinion of the chart. The main character Pepa was longing to find her ex-lover, Ivan and was doing anything possible to find him. throughout her escaped she found out that Ivan had a son Carlos. Upon finding out this it appeared to me that her conversation and demeanor changed. When she meet Carlos for the first time when came to sublet her apartment she seemed to be alittle more sexual in her behavior, by being up in his face and swinging her hair back. Everything from then on revolved around information she could get about Ivan, in which Carlos did not know much, for he and his father did not see each much, he was raised by grand parents. His mother Ivans ex-wife was in mental institiution after his birth til just recently. Pepa was very unhappy that Ivan was leaving her, for what she thought was his ex-wife and vice versa, unknown to both that there was another women. Pepa was trying to find Ivan to tell him that he was going to be a father, but could never find him. During the whole time out looking fo r Ivan she never told anyone she was pregnant, but at the end she tells a stranger. Pepa longed for the love of her life.
Feelings in this movie are definetly over reacted. Pepa consistantly got upset because she either missed Ivans call or he did not call, she always threw something because she was upset and in her plot she was going to poison Ivan to make hime staty with her, but the drink eventually was used to allow Pepa to get away to help save Ivan from his ex-wife trying to kill him. Pepa eventually figured out how ex-wife was going to kill him and adverted it, it wasonly then that Ivan was willing to talk to Pepa, but she wasn't. she finally was at a point that she had given up and never told him she was pregnant. She eventually went home and told Marisa, Carlos finacee' that she was pregnant. They then began to talk.
I do see differences in the film in relation to today. If this would of happened in th US I feel there would of been alittle more violence from the women and men. Pepa seemed to be passive but aggressive in nature. She only wanted Ivan to know particular that she was pregnant, but wanted nothing to do with him. But on the other hand Ivans ex-wife was aggressive and wanted to hurt Ivan in anyway she could for all the lost years. The spanish population in my opinion seems alittle aggressive but able to hold on to things.
Overall, I do not think there is much different from Spanish American and Spanish European Women, mostly because they are coming from the same type of background. In saying this they are able to control and conquer alot of there culture.
In my opinion I feel that the Spanish culture id very family oriented and that is very important to them. You could see this with Pepa wanting a family and letting Ivan know, but he was not interested inher anymore. The family role is very important in there culture. I see this on a daily basis I have a son in law that is of Puerto Rican descent and he is very family oriented.
So far I have found this movie very funny and tells me alot about the culture.
